I was very interested to meet with Gideon Clifton, CEO at upcoming taxi-bookings service, TaxiStop. Gideon was at the BlueVia-Microsoft event to talk about the how TaxiStop is leveraging a plethora of Microsoft and BlueVia technologies to deliver its new service. I’m rather excited at the prospect of using TaxiStop to book my taxi journeys with a click-or-two on my phone.

At the Microsoft-BlueVia event in London, Soujana Bhumkar, CEO of Cooliris was there to discuss how his company makes substantial use of both Microsoft and BlueVia technologies. I asked him to give us an overview of the LiveShare service and tell us about how he uses BlueVia/Microsoft to support his business.

Richard Cudlip introduces TweetALondonCab’s deal with TaxiStop

I’ve been following the growth and success of the phenomenon that is TweetALondonCab for some time now so it was brilliant to be able to capture co-founder Richard Cudlip on camera today at the Microsoft-BlueVia event.

Richard was there to talk about his organisation’s new arrangement with the upcoming Taxi service, TaxiStop (see the next video for more about that). Thank you for taking the time Richard!

Ron Stevenson of Schakra discusses GoGoStat

Continuing our BlueVia Introduction series, their top man, Jose Valles, is back — but this time in English! (I hope you enjoyed Jose’s brief Spanish video from Monday).

I asked Jose if he could give me an example of how BlueVia works with developers. He jumped straight into an answer so I’ve edited the video from there — I particularly like his ‘internet speed’ point. It is written in the annals of developer history that thou shalt not expect a mobile operator to move fast. This might well be true, but when it comes to BlueVia, Jose explains that they’re enabling developers to move at internet speed. I can well believe it. Have a watch..

An overview of BlueVia in Spanish

Right then time for Jose Valles, top man at BlueVia, to feature again. This time there’s a bit of a change to the normal interview style though. I just changed one tiny aspect.

The language!

I asked Jose if he could introduce BlueVia entirely in Spanish.

My Spanish is limited to basic two and three letter words — therefore I briefed Jose not to expect any questions whatsoever from me — and to just give us a continual stream.

Aaaaaand I think that’s what he’s done. I heard various key phrases in amongst the Spanish so I think it’s all good. If you’re a native Spanish speaker or if Spanish is one of your languages, could you let me know what you think?

José Valles: The background to BlueVia

It’s time for the third episode of our BlueVia Introduction series (kindly supported by BlueVia). This time we hear from BlueVia’s top man, José Valles. I was initially planning on doing a 5-6 minute interview with him just to make sure we had his perspective. We spoke together on camera for 20 minutes at Mobile World Congress — and goodness me, it was fascinating. I think perhaps the most exciting element of the interview was the refreshingly direct and hugely enthusiastic manner in which José presented BlueVia.

In this episode, José describes how mobile operators (including Telefonica) have a pretty poor track record when it comes to working with mobile developers. He then sets the scene for BlueVia and describes why Telefonica has introduced the programme.

We’ll have more from José on Monday.
