Episode 13: A walkabout and demo at Funambol

Friday, June 12th, 2009

I’ve been watching Fumambol, the open source ‘MobileWe for Billions of mobile phones’, for quite a while. I’m always one of the first to try out their new services — Indeed I think I was one of the first to download their Android Sync app. So I was delighted to get the invitation to pop by Funambol’s offices to bring you a tour of their Silicon Valley HQ and a demo of their all new and simply gorgeous open source MobileWe portal.

What a lot of people might now know is that you can integrate Funambol’s open source sync solutions into your products and services very easily. So for example, if you’ve developed an application to track a series of relevant dates (e.g. TV Show times), you can have your app sync with your user’s calendar automatically. You don’t need to worry about supporting a few billion handsets — Funambol have got that covered.

Take a bit of time and have a watch! You can find the Funambol Developer’s Forge packed with info here.
