Episode 108: Christof Hellmis, top man at Nokia Navigation (Part 1)

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Christof Hellmis runs Nokia’s Navigation arm, more specifically Ovi Maps.  Now given that when we asked Nokia’s EVP, Anssi Vanjoki, to comment on the future of mobile at Nokia, he made it very clear that he sees the map as a primary or generic mobile interface, I was very much looking forward to sitting down with Christof to get his perspective.  If you’re at all interested in mobile navigation and the development opportunities associated with it, I very much recommend watching Christof’s video.  Here’s Part 1.

Episode 82: Anssi Vanjoki on the Future of Mobile

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

If you’d like a sneak peak into the Nokia game plan over the next 4 years, stop everything, get a coffee and sit down and watch this one — the last in the series of videos from the interview with Nokia’s EVP of Markets, Anssi Vanjoki.  In this video he talks about the way he sees each of the company’s key platforms (Symbian and MeeGo) being featured, talks about his perspective on the development of mobile and then talks about the company’s key competitors.  This is compelling viewing for any (closet) Nokia and Symbian fan.

What’s Nokia’s strategy with Symbian?  How does that tie in with Maemo?  And where does MeeGo come into play?  Here’s Nokia’s Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President of Markets, to explain.

Episode 80: Nokia’s Anssi Vanjoki on N97 remedy – “it took too long”

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

I am delighted to be able to publish the first in a series of videos of Nokia’s Executive Vice President of Markets, Anssi Vanjoki.  In part 1, Anssi deals with the issue of the Nokia N97, the company’s flagship consumer device, which launched to a hail of criticism.  That criticism then extended into popular annoyance with consumers all around the world hugely frustrated by hole after hole.  The company cleared dropped the ball, but stayed silent.  How would Anssi handle our questions?  Would he do the politician’s dance — to dismiss and divert attention — or would he take the question head-on and deal with it conclusively?

Have a watch of this and see what you think…
