I took the camera along to the Mobile Entertainment Forum‘s annual award ceremony, The Meffys, to capture the winners on camera, thanks to the generous support of The Symbian Foundation.
First up, it’s the video played at the start of the ceremony showing the work behind the awards and introducing some of the judges. You’ll also witness some phenomenal dancing…

Outside WIPJam at Mobile World Congress, Rafe and I came across David Wood, formerly of Symbian and now founder of independent consultancy, Delta Wisdom. We asked David if he’d give us his perspective on the event. He didn’t hold back! Nice one David!

QuickOffice is installed on millions of handsets. It makes short work of mobile document, spreadsheet and presentation editing on a whole host of platforms, most notably on Symbian. Rafe and I caught up with Director of Product Management, Naga Hariharan, to find out about their next addition — Quickoffice Connect — which enables you to browse and edit files from popular cloud storage services such as DropBox, Box.net and MobileMe.

Rafe Blandford — founder and editor of All About Symbian — is known throughout the world as one of the foremost experts on the Symbian platform. When Rafe and I were filming at the Symbian headquarters in London, we had a spare 25 minutes just before lunch. I took advantage of the opportunity to put him in front of the camera and ask him some questions, including:
- What was his first mobile phone?
- How did he get interested in Symbian? (There were some broken bones involved)
- Why do you like the community-led approach of open systems?
- Just how frustrating does he find it when the uninformed ask, ‘Is Nokia/Symbian dead?‘
- Who won the Smartphone wars?
All those questions and more are answered in this exclusive 10 minutes of The Blandford. Do not miss.

How easy is it to contribute to the Symbian Foundation? Well there’s a burgeoning developer community and, as Lars Kurth (The Symbian Foundation Community Manager) explains, contribution and committing responsibility is based on a system of meritocracy. Anyone can get involved. Anyone. Really. If you’re interested in getting stuck in, definitely have a look at what Lars has to say.

We sat down with Sebastian Brannstrom, Symbian’s Release Manager, to find out how the Foundation produces each of it’s software releases. Sebastian also talks about how they’re looking forward to seeing contributions from the open source community. If you’re thinking about getting stuck in, definitely check out this video and drop a note over to Sebastian. And do ask him about the Steam Powered mobile phone…
